I spent a couple of hours reading last night about zddp. I think I'm more confused now than when I started. Can anyone clarify?

1. Do I need zddp? '79 Midget 1500, it's stock. THE CAT HAS BEEN REMOVED. I only put in on once every two years for a smog check.

2. If I do need it, will simple STP oil treatment do the trick? I saw that mentioned a bunch of times. If STP will not do, just add the moss stuff? Any alternative I can pick up at the local auto parts store?

3. My reading has me paranoid about synthetic oil. I saw a bunch of posts about how it leaks more than conventional oil. I usually use Valvoline Max life Synthetic blend 20w-50. https://www.valvoline.com/products/consumer-products/motor-oil/higher-mileage-motor-oil/2
Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance, sorry to dig up the same old issue,

The last I heard was that Valvoline VR-1 was a good choice in its current formulation.

Valvoline 20-50 motorcycle oil supposedly has even more in it 1600ppm. It's about 3.99 a quart around here.
