Ok Guys,
Sooty/fouled plugs and black soot in exhaust pipe. I have a weber 36 dgv with pierce manifold and nice square chrome air filter (K&N maybe?)I previously posted problem with pressurized oil sump and was advised to reroute sump (side/vent) hose to a vent filter (k&N) instead of into the air filter and then into the carb. Well, I did the Sea foam thing and after removing air filter noticed the vent to air filter was full of oil and oil was also lying in the chrome filter holder. This must be the source of my soot problems. Problem #1. The air filter is oil soaked, can I clean it? If so with what? Problem #2 when I find a K&N filter for the sump vent hose will the same problem happen,ie, an oil soaked filter that will probably drip all over the the place and also coat the engine compartment? Problem #3. How do I get rid of the soot in the exhaust pipe once I find a cure to the source? And lastly but not least(ly) I am loosing clutch fluid. Underneath the car in the garage there is so much leakage oil/fluid etc it is hard to pin point the source. I installed a new clutch and brake master cylinders about 2 or 3 years ago. The clutch works fine as long as fluid is in the m/c. This only started maybe over last winter that I have noticed. There seemed to always seemed to be a fluid drip on the clutch slave hose, but because of other leakage from oil sump it is hard to tell source. Should I be looking at replacing slave and hose? or what? Detailed iinstructions of performing that job, if required, would be appreciated.
