Sony radio and an Alfa.

The Spider had a blue dot AM/FM radio in it when I got the thing. When we found Diesela, she was equipped with a Sony AM/FM/cassette unit. I found a Sony AM/FM/CD player at a flea market so Diesela (and more to the point,`smits) had CD capability. Took the old cassette unit out and put it into the Alfa. Now, some few years later the Sony in the Alfa has decided to turn ON but refuses to turn OFF. The "button" for "off" has craminated. It was wired into the original Alfa radio power, they never controlled the thing thru the iggy switch... silly Italians.

Sooo... bein' th' resourceful (and basically LAZY) individual I am, it was decided I'd just throw a switch in the mix rather than go thru the job of R&R the center console and get trapped in th' "might as well" stuff lurkin' back in the bowels. Spliced into the power wire at the in-line fuse holder and MacGyver'd up the switch. Works fine. 15 minutes of fettlin' and the "free" radio is functional again.

The odd bit is I been rollin' around for weeks sans audio, yanked the fuse out when the off button failed and just forgot about it. Didn't miss the tunebox unless I wanted news info. The car sounds are as much audio entertainment as I need. Engine noise coupled with the various squeaks, creaks `n groans makes for an interesting ride.

Engine noise coupled with the various squeaks, creaks `n groans is why I have a radio. If you can't hear 'em, nothing is wrong....And yes, I live by de Nile.

Really... craminated?
Doc Every time use use that CRAMINATED referance I crack up.
It reminds me of a good friend of mine used it and BUSTACATED to refernce anything not working. My tri power setup on my GTO fell victim to these words on countless evenings of tinkering.
