Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

I used to have a 64 like that. Mine was signal red though. Lackafloors must have been a popular option for early bodied spits.

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

Always thought that was "Sand a Floor"

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

I know that there are a lot of cars out there that would allow this, I think this is a fake. It does not look to me like the feet under the car could line up with the girl's body.

It seems to me I saw this on a site that was selling gag attachments for your car.

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

I don't know.
Stance of rear wheel in opening looks like it loade on a curve, as indicated by the front wheels, BUT:

I've driven Spits, and it LOOKS like here hindquarters are 8-10" off the seat.

Try to get a top up and sit in it if the seat is that high.

Best guess is it's in the middle of floor pan replacement and they rolled it out for a photo-op.
Hence no seats at all.

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

Seems I always start with "sand a floor", and all of a sudden, it reveals it REALLY is lackafloors My 64 came to me after my customer met an unfortunate end, and the estate wanted no part of it. After it sat around for a couple of years, I asked my wife (at the time) if she would be interested in having me build it up for her. When she came to look at it, she opened the door, and stepped right through the floor. She was not amused, but I was....

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

Ah memories, this was why my wife stopped driving her 68 Spitfire! Imagine her driving home late one winter evening with lots of ice/water slush on the road. She drives through a puddle of the stuff and the next thing she knows she's drenched as the passenger side floor vaporizes and the puddle lands in her lap.

She can laugh about it now 20+ years later....

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

She is sitting in the passenger seat with feet out the passenger door. She is leaning across the car to turn the wheel.

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

Good call.
Now tell me how the forward foot is UNDER the sill, and the sunshine is shining THROUGH the floor and onto said foot.

Must have one helluva problem with that leg to be outside the passenger door, leg extends horizontally under the floor, then suddenly drop at the LH sill.
Better yet, must be one of them "ghost" passenger doors...when open, no shadow.

I gotta gets me onea them.

That's not how I see it. it's really simple. She's in the drivers seat, pushing back against the back of the seat for leverage while she pushes the car to back it up. No motor in car by the way, so it's light enough. And yes, no floor. Absolutely everything lines up in this picture in my opinion.

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

Must be a really strong woman, then. Notice how the body leans to the right, but she has only one heel and one toe in contact with the ground, plus only her straight arms to connect her body to the car. Also, the wheel gaps are too even front & rear for the motor to be out.

Plus of course, her hair is blowing to the rear but the apparent strong wind is not affecting anything else in the picture.

It's a good Photoshop job, but that's all it is.

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

As Monty Python would say, This is silly.
It's really a picture of a girl who has driven over the other women she caught
with her husband.

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

Looks to me like a girl sitting on an egg crate with her feet sticking through the floor.

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

You guys have it all wrong. Here's what happened:

The blasted e-brake wasn't holding and the Spit started to roll. She knew her husband would blame her if it got dented so she jumped over the non-functioning door (that's why her hair is the way it is), and when she landed, the heels of her shoes went though the rusty floor. So she grabbed the wheel and used her feet to stop the car in true Flintstone fashion... and saved the day btw.

So now he can only blame her for the floor rusting through.

How's he going to get a new tool out of that?!

Re: "Some rust repair may be needed"

I had a 74 Dodge Dart with floors like that. Found the best solution for keeping my legs dry was to toss a couple more floor mats in there. Pulled them out on hot summer days for extra ventilation.

LOVED that car.
