some road miles!

Well, at last i managed to put a few miles into the new diff! The new 3.54 ratio is a vast improvement. Very glad I've gone down that road. And the telescopic shocks are also much better. I still managed to hit the bump stops on a rough section of road - not sure if something can be done there, but over all I really happy with the changes. The car really seems to loaf along now - I was especially carful to keep the speed and revs down today (speed for the diffs sake until its run in, and revs for the fact that the tiny muffler/exhaust means the car is capable of some pretty exciting tunes. It was just as well as I saw 4 separate patrol cars lurking about in just 70 miles of driving about town. I had it in mind to make the car really good for touring, and now I think the changes have achieved that goal.

Also the carpet snaps are all in except for the ones I'll fit to the front edge of the rear section - but I want to get a little soft foam to fill the void under the carpet left by the uneven surface around the seat pan cut-outs.

Also seems that my window Bristleflex hasn't been sent yet - so I'm in for some weeks of chilly driving until that comes. But I temporarily fitted the door seals so the doors won't rattle about so much.

And I'm playing about with the placement of a cargo net. At the moment i've looped the ends over the tubes the tonneau bow seat in.

I had some weird problems this morning with the LED light wiring - there seems to be a short somewhere in the reversing light wiring, causing all lights to come on to some extent when one is switched on. The light that is actually selected is at full brightness, and the others are all on at a reduced level. I found there was about .6 of a volt coming back through the wire to the reversing light...

And worse, the indicator LEDs and their electronic flasher are not functioning (I've replaced them with the original incandescent set for now). With the LED set in I'm getting all the indicators flashing at the same time!!!?? I dont understand how that can happen. I'm going to have to study the electrics plan to work that one out...
