Some days, it just doesn't pay...[car related]

Some days, it just doesn't pay to get out of bed. I took the B out for a long needed top down drive yesterday; everything was going quite well, everything was working (isn't that how it always starts? :p).

So, I'm stopped at a light; light turns green, put the car back in gear and take off. I heard a 'snap' under the shifter, followed by a quick sizzle and then nothing. You've probably guessed by now: the overdrive.

As it turned out, the slit connector that I had 'salvaged' by soldering it back together had broken apart again. The shifter switch cap had also broken apart during all this. The fuse that I had in the OD circuit did do it's job; I'd say it popped almost immediately.

I put in a call to British Wiring, and they were good enough to find me a new set of those connectors, even though they weren't one of their ordinary sundry items. Good people they are (I know this is probably one more in a big pile of compliments for them though :p).

Seems like some days, it just doesn't pay to get out of bed in the morning... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Hey, if you busted 5th gear in any other transmission you'd be out hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Feel lucky!
