Some assembly required..

Well, I took the plunge on a TR3A deal locally, only downside is 'car has been partially disassembled'! I don't think there is a single nut and bolt that hasn't been loosened here, so I either have a fun roadster in the making, or you may be seeing me as an ebay peddler someday!

Katy, Texas, home of the brave! Good luck, we're here for you....

What's the commission number?

At this time I think this is a rare version of what is known as an "Itsabitsa". Probably 1.5 cars total in the dozen odd size crates. Body is post 60000, but the only commission plate they had found was around 47000. Not sure what I have, really, at this point. Will get it hauled over in a week or two I hope.

Frame looks great, rest of it is challenging - fenders all look repairable, main body has Flintstone style floorpans. Two engines, both disassembled, two trannies, both non-od. And a big wasp nest that nailed me when I moved some parts around!

This is going to be awesome wathching this come together Randy - keep us up to date and take lots of pictures for us.

You have a much more optimistic outlook on this than I do! I'm still sitting on a TR4 project I've had for 3 years now. But then again, that engine runs and might work in this 3 project..

Randy

Yowza! So much for 'assembly is the reverse of the above'.

Have a friend who bought a AH Sprite in pieces... came with a 1 foot cube cardboard box that was heavy as all get out. Opened it up and found every screw, nut & bolt that had come off the car.

Patience and a methodical approach suggested.

 With those directions, it'll be together in a couple weeks! I wonder what the British equivalent of Testors glue is....

Thanks Geo!

This is going to be tougher than I thought. Based on your supplied instructions, I can confirm that I have at least one of the identified headlamps, three grilles, probably eight wheel hubs, but I don't seem to have what they call the body in that illustration!

Randy

From a marketing standpoint, the seller went overboard on presentation.
Good luck on your project. It should be fun.

Rust, of course!

The British equivalent of Testors would most likely be Humbrol....if that company still makes hobby supplies!

Well, the bonnet latch spring looks pristine!!

That alone puts you ahead of the curve and will
save a few pesos.

I don't see any tires. You will need some.

have a blast !!! You will enjoy the learning curve.
Ya best start looking for a second job- 'cause it's
gonna be big $$$$.

Randy,

I think you need to change your name from tr4nut to tr3nut.

Welcome to the club.

I hope "partially dissassembled" is better than "slightly wet". -Remember that I have some parts and I'm getting a clue as to what I'm doing...

Jerry

Randy, that looks like an enjoyable challenge, and I admire your balls.

The loose ones aren't the problem.... it's the ones rusted into immoveable objects that can be, particularly when they break and leave little (or no) stumps behind.

Keep telling yourself how you're enjoying the rebuilding effort. Especially when wives/girlfriends/sceptics are about.... :jester:

And hide the bills....
