TR2/3/3A Solenoid

Solenoid 003.jpgThis solenoid hook-up doesn't quite seem right.
Any thoughts? The push-button starter doesn't work either also it's not the original.

The big black (starter) cable connects to the bottom big post.

Big red cable is correct.

Smaller brown wire connects to the same post as the big red -- possibly it is already on there.

The wire from the start button (would have been white/red originally) connects to a small lug separate from the big posts.

The way you have it wired now I would expect the starter to run all the time (assuming the battery's grounded to the engine/body.
 
As a note,solid red and solid black wires are never connected to same terminal.

Unless you have one of the aftermarket gear-drive starters, with another solenoid built into the starter.
