That looks nicely done! Not some cobbled together hack job!!

I am wondering how air gets to the radiator though.....those two small side grills hardly seems adequate.....

I have a Peterson's book from, oh, 25-30 years ago shows that body style (911 or 912) with a 455, but no turbos. The guy went to Goodwill, bought a bunch of old luggage, bolted it together, cut out the back for an inside engine cover.

The "racing" part is those really neato diamond-place pedals....ratchet shifter....and exposed nuts and bolts to hold it down.
What I want to know is how does one get a Fed or Calif emissions vehicle to have current tabs when none of the original emissions devices are in place?

That's why it's "BUILT FOR RACEING". It's not street legal. I have no idea what kind of "RACEING" Mike has in mind, though.

How does it end up with current California plates and tabs, if not "street legal", or did the seller stick the plates from the wife's exploder on just for the photo shoot?

And then again..."THIS CAR IS BUILT FOR RACEING MUST SEE" with street seats and automatic. Hmmmmmm
American iron is commonly drag raced with automatics.

Motor is an Olds, I'm sure the trans is GM from a front wheel drive Toronado, Buick Riv or Caddy Eldo.

'71 is no longer smog inspected in California.

pc.

I thought in California all emmissions devices back to 1968 had to be installed and functional?
And, Federally?

What happens in California if the guy sells that car to another Califonian, doesn't it have to be inspected on resale?

That said, I read in "Old Cars" that one state is trying to mandate emmissions back to 1959!

Gotta be drag racing. Does it consistently end up crossing the finish line bass-ackwards?

Maybe not completely crazy. Headed that way, but not quite there yet. Soon though.

Cars 1975 and older are exempt from CA smog inspection/compliance requirements. The old car lobby here must be very strong/influential to keep the legislature here from changing that and hopefully will be for the foreseeable future.

It's "legal",but by the definition of the smog laws here in
California, you're supposed to have the emmision controls of the
newer of the two (vehicle/engine).
