Heater valve decided to mark its territory uhg so it looks like my plans on playing in the twisties this afternoon are over and a trip up to moss tomorrow is off. It figures it would happen the second the weather cools off enough to be real nice top down weather.
You drive all the way to Moss from Pasadena?? That sure is a long drive, I pass by it on my way to visit my gf in San Luis Obispo which is a little more than an hour north of Goleta. But it sure is an enjoyable drive, especially with the top down.
Blank it off with a piece of aluminum (even a beercan) between valve and head, and RTV... an old sparkplug 'n hoseclamp to plug the return hose! Don't need no steenkin' HEATER!!!
I drive up there from the San Fernando valley all the time. It's a lovely drive. Coming from San Diego there is a LOT of city traffic to contend with, but starting up here it's mostly PCH to get there.
I say close the valve, put some sealer or epoxy around the leak and go to Moss to buy another one!
Yeah I dont recall much traffic through San Fernando Valley, except for about mid February of this year when it was raining cats and dogs and everyone was doing 40 on the 101 /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif
SF Valley is kinda large... so it depends on which part you were going through. There are certain freeways that my friends always tell me about (can't remember the names because i very rarely drive them) that are ~always~ backed up with traffic.
It's all about the timing when going though the 210/134/101. It can be as close as you can get to a parking lot at times particularly where the freeways merge even on the weekends. But once your out of the valley the drive is wonderful.
I've got 2 heater valves on order from moss and should have them tomorrow.
On a positive side I was able to knock out installing the gas strut conversion for the hood and trunck and In a bit I'm going to start heat proofing the cockpit.
