...and figured out shortly thereafter that wasn't a good idea.

When yuo turn it on now, the "Dell" screen comes up for a second, then it blanks out, flashing cursor, "Loading PBR to device 2" or somthing like that, then, "No rebootable device found" or simliar stament.

I'mm thinking maybe i scared my disk drive and need a new one. The computer was given to us and is about 5-7 years old.

Info on drive says:

TOSHIBA
MK4026GAX
HDD2193 D ZK01 T

I can't seem to find one used on ebay. I'm looking for something cheap. I don't mind paying a few dollars more for a better drive, but I'd like to keep it cheap so i can get this thing going again.Who is a good sorce for 'puter parts?

Doc, got yer ears on?

Just took the wifes lap top to the geek squad as the screen went black. $300.00 later, all's well! Some sort of virus caused it. It now has a top rated anti-virus program they installed. PJ
