Snow "Car"

Re: Snow "Car"

I've wanted a Model T based snowmobile for ages-saw several one winter at an off-road meet and thought they were the neatest things. 'Course, I'd be tempted to build a T-bucket hot rod snowmobile, with a flathead and lake pipes.

Ya gotta PROMISE me you're gonna go find and visit my pal when he gets back "up there" in a few months. You two just GOTTA meet! Too much in common.

I'll try again. "Too much in common"? A scary thought...

Re: Snow "Car"

Nial;

you will understand this.
Lake Erie was actually walkable this winter. First time in over 40 years.
I could have walked to Pennsylvania without going through customs.
Now that is a walkable lake!

Dave:

I wonder has anyone actually tried that? (walking across the lake to the US)

I'm not sure anyone can really "understand" the appeal of walking on a frozen lake.......unless you're a weirdo like me. :jester:

My daugter's inlaws have a place in Traverse City, Mich and they said Lk. Michigan was more frozen than in the past too. Cold Winter, I guess.

The guys that caught ~These Fish~ go up to Ontario every year and spend almost a week on some of your frozen lakes. The one guy was telling me they walk about 1/2 mile out on one certain lake, drill through 2 foot of ice and spend the day there. He says a lot of times there's no other people within view of them.

I've been out on our lake when there's no one else out and the ice is "creaking" and "groaning".....it sort of creepy and spectacular all at the same time.

Re: Snow "Car"

 :iagree:

Corby's distillery, Belleville On. - (on lake Ontario) shipments for Cuba would leave and be back within 24 hours - amazing!

Re: Snow "Car"

And th' trek from Long Point to Erie is just shy of 100 miles.

...don't ask. But it was summer.

Ouch!
I had the top down on both cars yesterday.
My neighbours took their patio boat out for a ride on our lake (yes, it was top-down too)

Interesting setup on the Jeep......Four-Track Drive!
