Hi,

Does anybody have a template for marking the mounting holes for the smooth letters used on the front of late model TR3s?

Thanks.

See that nobody is responding...I don't have a template, but here is a pic of my 1960 letters, to help you locate the holes...

Beautiful car John, I'm still envious! But those aren't smooth letters are they - they look like the ridged style. And if so, the pin connections are different - way too many people have been bit by that one including a club buddy of mine recently.

edit: Just did a quick websearch and came up with this lead:

Joe Richards had a template at one time, it might be worth checking with him.

I have a template, but it is for the ribbed letters as well. Is there a way you can adapt that to your letters?

Can't you find traces of the old holes on the underside of the apron? If you got a template and got it anywhere close to the right position, your drilling would no doubt partially intrude into some of the original holes, giving you unusable misaligned or figure-eighted holes. Bob

Neil,

I have a template for the late smooth letters that I got from TRF several years ago. Please PM me your email address.
