Ok I reinstalled the old carb and replumbed the way it was. It took awhile to get her running right again, but the drive in this morning was smooth and uneventful. Now just a general question. The Su carb tuning guide says, open the jets 2 full turns and the idle screws about 3/4 turn. If the car does not start, would you open the jets more, or turn the idle screws down until it did start? and what is the difference to the running if you do it the other way, and open the jets (richer) until the car starts. ?

Thanks

I would think a bit richer would be my first try.

What was with the new front carb. Why did you install that if the old one works fine?

Woodie's carbs were mismatched when he bought the car.
Mine always started with two turns down, and I usually had to lean them out, but it depends on your needles.

Yes Jack my old front carb had no vacuum port to the oil seperator cannister, while the rear did. Yesterday while looking at the old and replacement carb they both began with AUC, not AUD, even the rear carb that is on the car is an AUC model. Guess I should look for new correct carbs or leave well enough alone...just kidding, but new carbs will be next summers project.

Just curious, but could it be that the carb/dizzy set you have is correct for Canadian models that year? I believe Canadian and US emission standards where quite different through the 70's. Is it possible you are looking at what was US standard for your "correctness" reference?

I am just specalatin' on a hypot-thu-sis here...

Morris, according to Burlen, I should be running with AUD 327. The us version is AUD328. 327 has fixed needles while the 328 has biased needles.
