Smooth case remote shifter on a rib case

Okay, so I'v got 2 rib case transmissions and no shifters for them. I know that the smooth case shifter will work with some washers under the hold down piece, but I was wondering if the entire remote control unit could be used. There's one on eBay right now:

This looks in serviceable shape, and would solve my shifterless situation. I could also use the one off my original smooth case, but I'd rather not crack that one apart at this point. Thoughts?

Price for the parts is good at the moment, but that carriage price makes it less attractive! $55-00 seems a bit excessive to me, it depends if there are any other bidders.
I would think GBP30-00 would be about the price in the UK with GBP10-00 carriage, so a total of around $70- $80-00. If the price doesn't shoot up too much you get a good buy. Also means you get to keep your original box intact. Gotta be the way to go.
Graham.

Time to get it.
Shipping to you should be cheap enough. Around 11.00
No bids yet.

Decided to pop in a bid and see what happens. If nothing else, I can use the shifter and hold down plate with a bit of shimming.

I figured that, Graham... I was a bit confused for a moment (a normal state for me), but the light eventually came on.

Just checked, Jeff. Sorry about the confusion!
