Smoke - oil burning

Ok, I posted the Smoke on start-up thread a few weeks ago. Turns out that it continues after car is warmed up. Seems to be heaviest on 2 to 3 shift. Not noticeable cruising at higher speed in 4th on the open road. May be more than valve seals. In lower gear, it almost seems if one of the spark plugs is becoming oil-fouled but then clears up once I speed up in 4th. More input and suggestions are appreciated. It was cold (around 32 degrees) but clear. As I said earlier, car seemed great as long as I was in 4th going 50 mph +.

Do you have a PCV set up on the 1275?
You may be sucking oil out of the crankcase.
Try restricting the intake hose with a nut or something to make the draw hole smaller.
Also you need a vented oil filler cap with a PCV set up or you will suck too much air (and oil) out of the crankcase.

good point...I had a nut in there...maybe it's gone. Thanks!

you beat me to it ! I was just checking the other post to see if the "PCV" had been mentioned... that was my problem on my 1275, faulty "pancake" style PCV valve, it would smoke out a city block !
To be sure I had the hose to the intake blocked off (bolt in the hose with a clamp to secure) no morre smoking - so then I tried a PCV off the shelf at the local jobbers & cobbled it into the system, which worked unless I was running up a hill with the motor loaded (get a little smoking), so the I caved in spent 75 bucks & replaced the pancake style valve, no more issue - turned out that although the previous owner had put a rebuild kit into the original pancake PCV the spring that goes against the diaphram went missing... and without that spring, things get smokey, really smokey !

Update - I plugged the area in question and it helped quite a bit. However, still get some smoke on the 2nd to third shift with what sounds like plugs fouling. The plugs seem to clear up once I am on open road in 4th gear. Something is still wrong. Any additional ideas?

Sure sounds like you are running rich - very rich. I had that with Ms Triss - she was fouling at low speed but once the revs were up, it seemed to go away. Misfire is one of the characteristics of very rich.
