SMITHS SPEEDOMETERS

Hello,

I seem to be having more than my share of trouble with my speedometer on my 1973 MGB. I have tried lubricating the old speedometer cable and finally replacing the cable and still the needle flucuates, bounces, etc. Also, the odometer does not work. I purchased a couple of speedometers off eBay and they measure the speed but not the miles. Atleast my lbr is not adding miles and I do know how fast I am going. Sorry for all the comments.

My question is....is it better to have a speedometer rebuilt or to purchase a new or already rebuilt speedometer? And any recommendations on a source for purchase or rebuilding?

Any and all replies will definitely be appreciated. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Nisonger does a really nice job rebuilding this stuff, I'd go that way. check their website in the Tachometer thread

Jim, I sent you an e-mail about the one I have. If I get around to it this week I will put it in my car and test it for you.
