Smart cars - I hadn't thought about this likelihood...

Might need some serious smoked glass (including the windshield) to block the obvious driver-on-their-phone situation. :wink-new:

All that "bullying" will do will result in new legislation to ban non-self-driving cars, especially on Interstates and Motorways. Nice going, bullies.

Nothing new under the sun

Makes you realize what a good TV shows was. I believe they only did about 24 episodes or less. Quit while you are ahead.

Bringing this slightly back to the LBC part of the forum- Other than this video I have never ever seen a Austin America Estate - I think they are charming. I had a friend in high school who drove one - saloon - but, has anyone ever ridden in/seen the wagon version?

Interesting (the bullying). We have a rather good population of them out here being tested. Whenever one gets in an accident, a report goes to the DMV and is posted on-line. In ~90% of the cases, the autonomous car is rear-ended. Maybe the autonomous cars are doing the bullying?

On the other hand::
what will autonomous cars do to the DUI industry?

perhaps if your car senses you have been drinking it will drive irradically, in solidarity with your condition.

Actually, if it senses you've been drinking ... it should just park itself and refuse to run!

after spending the weekend in Atlanta traffic, with minivan-nascar-wanna-be's every which, where.

.....I've changed my mind. I welcome self driving cars.

So they will make judgment calls from the driveway?
what if it's a life and death situation oh no it already made the call
so it would not really be your car since you really would have no control over it
so on the up side I would not be responseable for it.
so shouldn't need insurance as it's not my decision on what happens anymore.
ill just drive my 59sprite and my 79 el Camino until they outlaw them .
then call uber
wait aren't ubers sort of antonomis car.

Wait for the day the car says, "Nope it's cold wet and snowing. I'm not going to start rusting away out there, find another ride to work"...
