It's supposed to be easier in a small car... but, of course, this would be driver-dependent.

I don't think they're that "smart" in that car.
 
I don't know what it is with the drivers trying to park head first the front wheels are the turning wheels. Even 50 yrs ago they had us back in and the front follows if you turn the wheel. I did it on first try and my instructor made the girl ( my neighbor ) use my half hour to practice. In 6 weeks, she never got it. Probably hasn't got it now. Now there are the ones who have to park in a mall lot where the can drive thru to the othe side, because they cannot back up. No wonder roundabouts in the states are frowned on. :surprise:
 
And here I thought the whole purpose of having one of those cars was to be able to get into any spot without hassle. Shoot, I bet I could have put the daily driver Toyota in there with no problem.
 
The thing is,everyone on this forum probably could park a long bed pickup in the spot. 1% of the people in the world are car savvy or car nuts. These 1% are the racers, restorers and instructors. Just not enough of us to go around.
 
Maybe the "Smart" car needs to go driverless!!;)
 
On a related note - our oldest daughter did the driving school thing (prayers GREATLY appreciated!!) and here in Chicago they do not teach parallel parking anymore. How crazy is that. Is there any OTHER kind of parking in Chicago EXCEPT parallel - for the most part?
