Small Strap?

Happy Thanksgiving!

There is a small strap behind each front seat, close to the foot well.

What are these straps for? Maybe secure the rear passenger ankles if no rear seat belts are available?

Thanks,
Bob

Note: Picture is not my car.

Looks like a seat belt anchor, or maybe a tie-down for the parcel shelf. What car model are you working on?

:savewave:

They cover and provide access to the rear suspension front radius arm attaching bolts in a Phase 2 BJ8---Keoke-- :driving:

Thanks Guys!

My car is a '65 3000 BJ8 Mk III. Maybe the straps just came standard on the carpet replacement kit?

I tried to get my wife in the back seat and strap down her ankles, but no luck.... Until she gives in, I'll use them to hold the excess shoulder belt material.

memphis, ya doin it all wrong!, ya godda get her rists tied to the luggage rack first!...

When you lay the parcel shelf flat, they should snap on to the leading edge of the shelf to prevent it from bouncing around. that's what i was told anyway. My rear seat back isn't in yet.

Legal Bill,

That makes sense. I'll have to try that out...
Sort of like Anthony's idea also..
Thanks,
Bob

I thought they were there to hide the large boltheads for the radius arms of a phase 2 BJ8?

How do they hide them?

With the little button down straps

How do you see the bolts without them?

You don't and if you need access to them you have to cut the carpet away since you do not have the straps which provides access to them.---Keoke

I have no idea what you mean. The bolts are covered in carpet. How does the strap hide them? How do the straps provide access to anything? Is this just a joke?

I have no idea what you mean.

The bolts are covered in carpet.

Yes a phase one BJ8 carpet set does not have the openings cut out for the bolt heads and the straps which conceal them .
This is because a Phase one BJ8 does not have the radius arms or the attaching bolts

Consequently, if a Phase one carpet set is installed in a Phase two BJ8 the bolt heads will be covered with carpet because the carpet set for a phase one car does not have the cutouts for the bolt heads or the concealing straps.

How does the strap hide them?

when the strap is fastened it conceals the bolt head underneath it.

How do the straps provide access to anything?

When you unbutton the strap it provides direct access to the otherwise exposed bolt head.
Is this just a joke?
NAA---Keoke--

So after you cut the carpet, the straps would hide the cut?

NO BILL if you have to cut the carpet you have the wrong carpet set for that car and there are no straps to hide the cut'

Carpet sets [ Phase 2 BJ8 ] with the straps come with a cut out already provided in the carpet to accommodate the bolt heads and the straps to hide them.
