Basil & I just spoke - he's out of town but is aware of the speed problem. He's working with his server to get them to correct it; they're aware of it but apparently another web site is doing a lot of processing that's slowing down their whole machine. Basil's gonna get it fixed or move to another server. Hang in there, guys.

UPDATE: There may be 10 or so minutes when the site is down as they move it to a new machine - Basil sends his regrets.

I was just about to post an update saying that " I give up " when I read this post.
I will change all of my settings back to normal and then go out in the garage and work on the Healey without the guilt of not solving the problem.

You get what you pay for. I am amazed at Basil's tenacity. Running one of these pigs is a thankless and frustrating job. Invariably it is eating into his private life. I ran one of these for a year and gave up after getting complaits from folks who got upset as if they had paid for a service. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
 
I think about how much value I derive from this forum compared to the value of magazine subscriptions for which I pay. I'd gladly pay for this resource to ensure continued access. My only concern is that not enough folks would join me to ensure the continued depth of knowledge available here. But if Basil has any suggestions along this line, I'm in. The problems of the occasional technical glitch are insignificant. This is a hobby, right?
