Overall winner Derek is son of my friend of many years.

This is up in Coldplugs' "neighborhood."

They dragged the Golf out of a two year sleep, re-shod it, studded the bladders, went out and did the deed.

Looks like a hoot. I guess someone protested the "strangers" so they had to pull a random stud to prove they weren't "cheating".

That looks to be the neatest thing you can do with a car...outside of club racing.

Most of the stuff I've seen has been in NY state.
I have friends that run with this group:

Didn't realize they did it in Maine (but it makes sense).

I could really get into that. Also - good way to get
those Geos off the road.

That's where we used to run, many, many years ago (in the '60s!). Red House Lake in Allegheny State Park to be specific!! Looked much like these pictures! I guess one frozen lake looks much like another /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif !! That was some of the most FUN I have ever had behind the wheel!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Derek is a driving instructor with PCA, the Golf has been in the family from new and he used it to back-and-forth thru high school. Story is the rear brakes were leaky so they pinched off the rear circuit! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif Didn't need 'em anyway! He 'n Chris would switch dirvers at 30 minute intervals usin' their cell phones as the signaling device. These guys run 911's around tracks like the Glen & Sebring so transferring the "routine" seems logical. I think they plan to do more of it.
