I fired up my 1947 Norton 500 cc single yesterday. I have been almost 3 years in rebuilding this to as close to a carbon copy of the original as possible.
It fired on the 3rd kick. I was very pleased as I had dismantled this engine down to where even the crankshaft was in pieces.
I will post some photo's and more info on the motorcycle forum later this evening.

Congratulations! Actually I think you are right on target! Good going hope I can say the same for mine this fall!

Were the parts hard to source?

Where'd you get the carb and fuel system stuff??

More, More! Interesting, lovely bike.

Please post pics!

I have loaded up some photos and started a post on the motorcycle forum.

Congratulations! I'll have to look for your other photos.
I regret ever trading in my '64 Norton Atlas. I hope you enjoy it.

Back in the 70's a friend of mine had a Norton 850 Commando. It was a really sweet bike. Your post brought back some good memories of my days when I was younger. Thanks
