Sink Hole In Back Field!

Went to mow a back pasture the other day and saw a hole about 3 foot across. Later measured the depth and it was 3 foot deep straight down with 6 inches of moving water in it. Took a long pole, about 7 foot long and pushed it in on an angle and never hit bottom. Thing is, we have an underground river across the back of the property which feeds our 1 1/2 acre pond. With all the rain we've had, it raised the water table causing the river to flow twice as fast as it ever did since we've had the place. I dumped in one full loader bucket of large rocks, as not to block the flow and three heaping buckets of fill dirt in and it just filled the hole. It was quite a surprise indeed! The tractor I use weighs 9000 lbs plus mower. Gotta be careful in that area from now on. I have no idea how far down that river goes. :eeek: PJ

Might wanna carry a scuba tank on the tractor.

Hollar it out and make yew a crick.
