Single Zenith Carb- Results

Well, my forum friends, I've got to tell you how I remedied the single Zenith carb problem. I ordered from Moss a single SU carb kit that replaces the Zenith on 75 to 80 MGBs. This is a simple remove and replace set up that took about an hour to install. It's not a bolt and go, that is, it's not bench tested and pre-set to run on installation. So,you basically have two adjustments, jet adjust and idle, which is pretty simple. The carb is a HIF44 and has a 2" bore as opposed to the 1 3/4" of the Zenith. The problem I had with the original Zenith- it would not start up when the engine was cold and it had absolutely no power compared to my 69 B/GT high compression engine. Plain and simply, it was a dog! Well, after a little "tweeking" of the richness mixture setting, the test ride was one heck of a surprise. I didn't expect a big improvement, I just wanted the choke to work and the car to start 2-3 seconds after I turned the key. I would never have believed a single carb B would throw me back into the seat on take off, but , WoW...this ole LBC kicks like a mule. I am totally amazed at the difference...it's not the same car. I have a downdraft weber on my 76 B and there's no comparing the two. I highly recommend this conversion. Sorry Mr. Barnhill, there's no way I could get that out of a Zenith...what's your address...I have about 6 old ZS carbs your more than welcome to. (lol) Again, I appreciate everyone who responded to my post. I gotta go take another test ride, yeee haaaaa!!!!!!!

My address is on my website https://www.theautoist.com....I'm not going to disagree that you can't get more power from different setups - you can...all I'm saying is the ZS performs just as designed on the crappy manifold if properly maintained

Send 'em on - lemme know the shipping costs!
