Being kind of a fix it nerd I have spent way too much time in the nuts/bolts/misc. fittings aisle of the hardware store. Noticed some washers that are steel with bonded on rubber on one side. Bought three and used them on the rocker cover studs. For less than a buck the valve train noise from the motor is noticeably reduced. Washer for a TR250/6 are 5/16" i.d.

Also available from McMaster-Carr. I used to use them for sealing rather than noise. They have a couple of styles, you want the ones that seal the threads as well as the surface. (Now I use a pair of custom nuts from Alexander Racing, that have O-rings in the bottom of them and a Triumph logo on top.)

Yes, the style I used looks as tough it is designed to seal as well, with a little extra rubber inside the perimeter of the hole, a snug fit.
