Silverstone Wheels

Hello everyone. I'm new to the board and am in the process of restoring a 1960 TR3A TS73289L. The car has been off the road since 1968 and was totally apart when I got it. So far the frame has been blasted and painted and all suspension, brakes etc. rebuilt. The engine has been rebuilt and I'm about to put in a TR4 overdrive transmission. The body shell has been sand blasted and is off at the body shop. Fortunately no rust just an number of dings and dents. The car came with a set of aluminum silverstone wheels. I've attached a picture. I'm looking for an extra Nokof spinner marked "left hand". Does anyone have any leads for this very rare part?

Thanks
Neal

Hi Neal,

There is a lot of documentation that has come to light regarding those old Silverstone wheels. It turns out that they cause significant vibrations at 33, 47, and 61 MPH, as well as promoting the dispersal and evaporation of all oil and grease in your suspension fittings. They will wear out your expensive tires within 10,000 miles. Women don't like them at all.

As a service to you and any other Silverstone wheel owners, if you pay me $100 I will take the wheels and bury them in my back yard. That way they will never trouble or endanger you or any other motoring enthusiast. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

I've heard they can also cause premature failure of the muffler bearings. Better get those off the car and send them to Mike ASAP!

Sorry man, we're just pullin yer leg. Those are some nice wheels though, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Welcome to the forum. Come back often and ask away, but don't be surprised if you find that LBC owners actually have a lot of fun here. After all, with the cruel sense of humor that the LBC gods seem to have, we had better have a great sense of humor!

I see that you're from MA. Check out the Cape Cod British Car Club when you get a chance. That's one of the groups that I belong to here in New England. Also the New England Triumph Club is a pretty nice group too.
