Silver or Yellow Wheels

Well, my luck finally ran out on "Statler" today. While removing the rear tire to cut out a rusted section, I hit the valve stem on the old tire and with a blast of air ......flat. Well the tire is so bad I do not wish to put a new stem on, so it is time to make a choice of weather to go stock or "old school" and paint the wheels the same yellow colour I will paint the nose. Remember the car will hopefully be a "tribute" car to the 59 Le Mans car XHP 940.

So Yellow ?

Or Silver?

Hi Paul - found the same images as you did on Google. I'm tempted to say yellow, but less orange tint than in the top picture, based on memory, but I'd try to get other opinions as I am not sure. Going to be a sweet car in any case, and here is hoping that a flat tire is the worst screw up you encounter!

I found a yellow paint at a hardware store that was marked JOHN DEERE YELLOW, I bought a few cans and it matched the yellow on my Lotus. It appears to be a yellow would look good on the nose and wheels of a smallmouth TR-3. Find a John Deere tractor somewhere and check out the yellow for yourself. Good Luck, Bill C. Mesa, Az.

Hey Paul!
I think that Statler would great with the silver rims. Just my own thoughts.

The yellow looks pretty good.

Both pictures look great. With the yellow nose already planned, I'd go silver.

I like the yellow. Make the car stand out more I think.

As Statler's "god-parent" I vote yellow too!!

Well the spare is now grey primer. I'm still thinking about what color to paint the wheels. I might do the spare in yellow just to see how it looks on the car. If I do not like it then I can just repaint 1 wheel. At least I can get the tub rolling around so I can get the floors in.
