Side shift non OD to OD transfer?

My OD BN4 sideshift has eaten a few of its gears. My friend has a non-overdrive sideshift which he wants to sell. Are his gears transferable to the OD model?

I know I need a new laygear, and probably a few other major parts.

If it is a BN4 sideshift the. layshaft, baulking rings [syncros], gears, etc will interchange. It is the mainshaft that is different. --elrey
