My side curtains need refurbishing and I will soon them send the to TRF.I have post 60k body and both curtains have dark amber fixed front panels with Dzus fasteners.
Was the dark amber an option, aftermarket or indicative of a particular year?Curtains appear steel frame OEM.I will replace with all clear but am curious about the amber.
Thanks
Tom

As far as I know, the amber is just indicative of severely degraded plastic.

The coleor is beer bottle brown/amber.Hard to imagine its just age discoloring, but also hard to imagine anybody wanting such a visually limiting color.

When we purchased a Miata a few years ago, the rear plastic window was brown/amber from heat/age (prior owner had mostly left the hardtop on and the zip-out window is generally exposed below the rear glass window which I'm sure didn't help) so I'm voting discoloring as well.

It is freaky...but the amber is definitely the way the plastic ages!

Unless all these PO's had a real tint fetish!

I had my original curtains restored by TRF and they are perfect.

I called TRF and they recommend fitting to the car before I send if they weren't original to the car, which they are not .My intention was to wait a few weeks until warmer weather to fi tmy top,but turnaround is about 10 weeks so I would like send asap.
So,how hard is it to tweak the frames after recovering without damage?
Thanks
Tom

If they clip to the tennon plates, then yes, they would have to come down. Even if they can fold inside, I would think they'd be right in your face. You won't need them with the sidescreens up anyway, since the forward half of the screen doesn't open.

If they screw to the stanchion screws, then they could remain in place.

Do windwings have to come off when sidecurtains go up?
Probably comes down to personal preference. I have the wind wings from Moss, which clamp onto the tenon plates, and they could stay on when using side curtains. But the clamps hold the sidecurtain slightly away from the tenon plate, which might bother some people. I couldn't tell that there was any extra air coming through the gap, but no doubt there was a little.

But I dislike the sidecurtains so much that I haven't used them for probably 25 years and don't even have the sockets mounted to the car. I'd rather take a chance on getting wet!

Thanks for all the replies.
I used them all winter long back when my TR3A was my first and only car in NJ.Never had Wind wings before.
Thanks again
