Should be overhead about the time I get to work. Maybe the ONLY time I get to see something like that.

We get the sonic "double-bump" here loud enuff to shake stuff. It just thrills me every time.

Never will forget years ago - sometime in the late 70's/early80's? - the Shuttle was piggy-backed across country on the top of a 747. Was living in Shreveport at the time, and Barksdale AFB, across the river, was a scheduled stopover. I went at the appointed time and got some great pictures of the monstrocity as it came in. Looked like it was floating in as it approached. Quite a sight!

Amazing skill it takes to "fly" that thing. No power; dead stick landing. How much does it weigh???

Like flyin' a washing machine . . .

I was looking forward to seeing it go over here (usually doesn't come in from the north) but don't hold your breath

They're "optimistic" but wweather is up and down, low clouds, low vis, rain just offshore. Just next to the cape they've got 300ft ceiling and fog.

Right here it's been getting darker looking more like rain as the morning progresses.

Welcome to Florida

Just read that the shuttle will take a little different path to the Cape. It will miss us by several hundred miles. Just my luck. :wall: :frown:

That's ok, they've already waved-off for the first chance at the cape this morning. I have a feeling they're going to just go to California anyway

Now back to Florida, and you'll get your chance to see it - maybe. This landing's track is similar to what was planned yesterday. Unfortunately I'll miss this one, I'll be in the air when it goes overhead :frown:
