Show Me Your Maroon Painted Engine!

Question, Will clear engine enamel stop the discoloration of the paint caused by engine fluids, such as antifreeze, gas etc? Some paints, as some have found out, don't hold up when exposed to chemicals. PJ

We recnetly had a DCR race engine that had been cleared with DC clear develop a leaking freeze plug, and it staine the block, but not as bad as Moss paint alone would have.

Aloha Paul,

Here is a link to a page detailing the various colors and finish for all the bits in a MGTF Midget:

https://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgtf/mgtf_finishes.htm

The engine is about half way down the page and lists the color codes for these manufacturers, Dupont, Ditzler and R&M. As mentioned by others, several auto paint dealers can mix a rattle can in your color for a modest price. In Hawaii, I can get a 12 oz can for about $14.

BFM0288 (Dark Canyon Red), 3 cans ordered. Just too many variations and suggestions of the engine color to be accurate. So I decided to paint it Dark Canyon Red and let it go at that. The wife doesn't want me to paint the car a Red color, which is indicated by the original code, as we have one Red MG in the family now. She wants me to paint it Black with a Red interior. I'm not crazy about Black OR a Red interior. We'll see. :nopity: Purple sounds good!

Hmmmm, with Tan interior. I'll have to check that combo out.
Thanks Marv! I'm sure there's one out there somewhere. Ah, what we don't go through for these women. Red and Tan would have been sooo simple. :winner1: ,Guess.
