Show car signs?

Hi everyone:

I need some opinions. What do you think about the appropriateness or etiquette of having an informational sign
displayed by your car at a car show? Any different thoughts about an "all marque" show vs a Concours De Elegance show or even an "all Healey" show. How much info.
should be displayed, etc.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I usually find such signs interesting and helpful, assuming that they include some real information and not just a list of trophies that the car has won.

I'm attaching a jpeg of the 13 x 19 poster that I display with my 100. It is attached to a short tripod/easel with Velcro so that it won't blow off, and the easel is short so that it won't blow over. It seems to work well. I often notice people reading the poster, so I guess that they are interested by it.

I think the signs are cool. Sometimes when walking through a show they help answer questions you may have if the owner is busy or not there etc. I say go for it. If you later sell the car makes a good memory picture for the den.

I like your sign, very tasteful and informative.

Very nice sign. I hope to see your car at the ABFM this weekend.

I think information panels are a good adjunct to a car on display. Museums exhibits usually provide information to help make the experience more informative, so why not a car show?

jeffr, the one and only car show i attended with my car was on fathers day two years ago, what i did was make a copy of the page from the a.h.c.a's description of my healey (63 bj7 mk 11) and with two small pieces of tape affixed it to the center exterior of my windshield, under each windshield wiper i placed a row of bcf. cards that i also made up spread out like a deck of cards, now mind you id never entered a car in any show before but i noticed most the folks that past my car spent more time looking at it and discussing it more then the other cars in the field and took the time to read the description and or take one of the cards, ive been to cars shows where the owner has had a large t.v. playing tapes of his entire restoration process mirrors under the car etc. thats a little much for me, by the end of the show all the bcf. cards were gone and i found 5 cards in my front seat three from people that had questions about it and two with offers to buy it. so i guess do what ever your comfortable with. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/savewave.gif

I agree...love the signs....and especially love a display if the car was taken through pics of restoration...or history..original brochures...car papers etc....I believe most auto enthusiasts all are that way!!

Yes indeed! My Healey 100 will be at the Portland ABFM this weekend, along with about 800 other British vehicles. I understand that it is just about the biggest such event in the country. (You'll get to see my sign, too /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif.)

Thanks Reid for the info.

Nice sign.....gives me some ideas.

Thanks to every one else for the suggestions.
