Should be a good weekend...

1. Have managed to arrange some time off work over the weekend.
2. Weather is supposed to be good (although I will believe this when it happens).
3. Did I mention I have time off work?
4. Have managed to find a shop that sells Bar Keepers Friend: A mate of mine bought a Harley that had really rough looking chrome on it, a quick clean with this stuff brought it back looking like new!
5. Something about not being at work...

Will hopefully manage to put the last few bits back on the car before the weekend so that the strip down can commence. Have got my hands on a matching set of shelves to store parts, got to pick these up at some point too. Only thing to distract me will be a visit from the Estate Agents to value the house on Friday morning... but hopefully that won't take too long!

Ohhh, Speedy Pete has an Estate. Neat. LOL

I'm working on it...

Jack, estate agents are the same as real estate agents are here in the US only over there they are despised as much as we do lawyers over here. Now back to our regularly scheduled program. Pete, get that darned midget out of the garage and get it ready to run. That just ain't harley weather over there. You can put the top up on a midget.

I think he got it coz he's hit the mid life crisis, although less than $5k for a Harley with 2,300 miles on it ain't bad!
As for the house, there are major plans afoot if I can get a chunk of the field that surrounds my house: My current driveway will easily hold 15 cars, but garage space is useless. The land purchase would allow me to build a 5 car garage complete with machine shop and assembly room...
Don't worry though, the Sprite is my immediate priority! And yes, I've been charging the batteries for the camera, so lots of pics will get taken!

did you mean to put a US dollar sign there? Or was it pounds sterling?

I did know about Estate agents, but it does sound like speedy is working on an estate in his own right.

I did mean $5k, it was a cheap bike and all it needed was a good clean!
The sun is shining so I'm going to grab a couple bits from the garage and give 'em a clean. If they come up good there will be pics before long!

Felt awful yesterday so didn't get anything done. Good nights sleep seemed to work, and it was beautiful today so cleaned some bits up: namely the quarterlights and a hubcap... would have cleaned more of them but it seems 42 years of brake dust and rust takes some getting off (definately need to get an ultrasonic cleaner!)! Haven't finished the hubcap yet, but took a pic of progress so far.
Have upgraded to Mozilla, so should be able to do attachments, but can't figure it out so pics will follow once I suss it out.

Good browser choice, Pete!!!

Attach by using the "Reply" button (not "Quick Reply") and finding "File Manager" just beneath the text entry box. You'll suss it from there on. You may need to reduce the size of the image as there's a limit built into the forum software. But try it first.

...now we gotta work on that O/S choice. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Hey hey, found it! Cheers for that, now feast your eyes...

S.P,

How did you clean that hubcap? --looks brand new. Any info. appreciated.

Same stuff my mate used on his Harley, it's called Barkeepers Friend, didn't think it was available in the US, but found the site:
https://www.barkeepersfriend.com
According to the site it's available pretty much everywhere so enjoy! I just use the original stuff, there's no warnings on the packet, so haven't bothered with gloves. Just pour a bit on a damp cloth and rub, I used it with a toothbrush for the fiddly areas. Curiously it's approved by the vegetarian society (???) although I haven't tried it on salad yet!
The quarterlights look better in the original size pics, but they were 1MB each, so had to downsize them.

Nice nice work, satisfying isn't it.

Barkeepers Friend is available here in the groceries.

It's nice to see it shining again I admit, but I'm no fan of elbow grease, hence the desire to get an ultrasonic... the hour that I spent on the quarterlight would have been dealt with in 10 minutes, and it would get in every nook and cranny!

It never ceases to amaze me how well old English chrome and brightwork hold up to time. Gotta be the best in the world.

VERY nice, Pete! An ultrasound cleaner wouldn't do as good a job as that, methinks. One large enuff to fit those bits into would be a pile of cash you could put to better use on parts 'n such.
Have you no local urchins you could bribe to do some polishing with promises of rides in it when done? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
