Shocking

Don't get on the forum much anymore, but still play with the BE quite abit. Reading about the rear disc is an interesting thought I think I'll pass, but, new rear adjustable shocks might be in the future, here's why. I reaplaced my "good" front shocks with Peter's adjustable shocks, they're beautiful, cool and neat. What I found was that one of the front shocks was shot. Maybe rears are what Santa needs to bring.

You can use standard classic mini rear shocks on a frogeye, I know that cos mines got em! The bottom mount is to the damper arm mount on the axle and the top mount is through the reinforcing plate for the bump stops on the axle arch. If you don't have those plates then it is a comparitively simple job to add them. This mod gives a vast range of shocks to use, from dead standard, gas filled or adustables. Koni even do an adjustable that starts slighlty softer than standard and goes up to hard road.
When fitted, the shocks lean slighly backwards but nothing like the forard lean of the Moss kit.

Those shocks have since been replaced with gas filled standard ones, the stroke is correct and the axle hits the bump stop before the shock travel is used up, plus the axle rebound strap stops the travel at just the right point as well.

The only time I have hit the bump stops is when travelling fully laden over a road surface which had a wave type wear pattern which caused maximum travel on the rear suspension due to frequency of the "wave" and the speed I was travelling making the body travel vertically far mor than normal!
