Unless you are from these parts, you probably don't know of Terri Q. Sayer. She was a former Miss Nevada and a big radio personality here in New Mexico. Just last month, she contacted me to appear on her show for 30 minutes to talk about NAMI and the Family to Family course I manage. After that initial 30-minute bit, she asked me back for a full hour to be on her show. Anyway, I just got back home from a business trip and was surfing around the news sites and was shocked to read that she has died. She was a BIG supporter of NAMI and her having us on her hit show was worth BIG bucks!

Indeed it was very sad. I actually called in to her show at about 9:15 in the hope that the line would be busy. I never called into a talk show before but when I found myself being put on hold, I broke out into a sweat and had those fits of sheer terror that I always get when having to speak publicly. Anyway I didn't hang up as I felt it would be rude. A voice came on the line and said I was next. Again I experienced that terror. Then I heard Mayor Berry talking and then finally "Hi Judy ..." I did muddle thru my feelings and held my emotions in check. I said thank you and bye. I didn't allow conversation as I just wanted back into my comfort zone. Doug and I then left the house but continued to listen to the end of the show. I was impacted greatly upon learning of her passing. I never realized how much she had become a part of my life. Anyway I did get closure and was flattered when Dan Goss ended the program by quoting me. He said what I felt and said "There are no words, just tears." I guess being taken out of my comfort zone was done for a reason. And yes she was truly one of the good ones.
