I am trying to ship a 1963 Austin Healey 3000 car to a friend in Australia and have been told that that the car will not pass customs inspection since the car may have brake linings and pads and a clutch plate that could contain Asbestos. Also they will want to verify that the head gasket does not contain asbestos as well.
I could get over the brake pad and lining issue by removing those items from the car and shipping it without the brake pads and linings, but how do you get over the clutch plate issue and the engine head gasket issue? Not sure if anyone else has run into the same issue with a car they were exporting to another country that is very strict with asbestos issues.
Also, has anyone in the forum shipped a British car to Australia? Do the shipping companies ship it through a port on the west coast or the east coast launch as New York or New Jersey ? Thank you in advance for any informative replies.
