TR4/4A shifter anti rattle pin

Took the shifter off of my tr4 trans while in the process of cleaning the whole thing and the anti rattle spring on the the shifter was missing the pin (probably lost when I took out the shifter). Anyway I have a new spring and pin ( will probably use the old spring) but looking at the slot created by the lever ends in nuetral, for the life of me, I just don't understand how that pin gets past the offsets when shifting from nuetral to 1st or to reverse without being unseated..
Seems to me the pin should face the opposite (flush) side but then the shifter angle would be backwards.
Am I just being overly analytical and it just works or what?

thanks

should have sized this a little bigger but the white circle is the pin..arrows are the offsets I'm talking about..viewed from drivers side...

I'm pretty sure that pin is supposed to ride much lower, where the slots match up better.

THANK you Randall, yes I see what you're talking about..it's only the very top that's offset. If I had just stuck my finger in there I would have known that..I'm only allowed to be stupid twice a week and already into next weeks quota!
