"Shelley" Jack on eBay

I'm continually astounded and confounded on what is sold, and not sold on Ebay. Recently an original "Shelley" jack, only slightly used /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif and painted a nice black color was listed. What is interesting is that the seller lists the item with a picture of the jack and with both handles, even the wooden handle that I suppose fits in the longer metal handle that goes into the jack. However, the handles aren't for sale in this auction. You have to go to another auction to bid on the handles. Now, I guess it's possible that someone found some handles in their vast garage of old car parts and thought someone might need them, and then lo and behold found the jack at a later date, humm /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I'm not complaining I'm just amazed that the jack sold for $209.09. I never bothered to view the handles I suppose they sold for an equally high price.
The item number on ebay is 190029313000 if you care to view.

johnny, thats the lowest price ive seen one go for!,i have not seen this item but the fact that its painted "black" makes me suspect, it should be "china red" and as poor as these things are, maybe not having the handles for sale with the jack is the sellers way of protecting himself from liabiliy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Well, I never thought of it that way, makes sense now. I have to agree with Keoke that they are only slightly better than rolling the car up on a rock, but then again I don't have a concourse car.
Interestingly I recently lost points in a car show because I had a late model scissors type jack in my Healey. The judge, who knew very little about Healey's, upon seeing the jack proclaimed "That doesn't belong to this car". Oh well.

I've not seen any tool in a British tool kit that was meant to be used. That includes jacks. An MGB jack is known to strip out when the car is off the ground. A Shelly jack will seize or break after about two or three uses. Jaguar spanners will break or bend if used. And so forth.....

I guess at a serious show we hide the functional stuff and show the "correct" stuff. Sounds like what I did with army boots long ago.
