I've been driving the MGB to school a lot lately. The weather has been top-down perfect so I've left the top hanging in the garage.

Anyway, today I walk out to the parking lot and notice a student who stops to look at the car. When he sees me walking up to it, he says:

"<span style="font-style: italic">Is this your car?</span>"

me-"Yes."

him-"<span style="font-style: italic">Neat! It's a Shelby, right?</span>"

me-"Umm, no. It's an MG. A '69 MGB."

him-"Oh. I thought it was a Shelby. Anyway, nice car!"

Seemed like a nice fellow and he was serious too. <span style="text-decoration: underline">Shelby</span>?!?! :confuse:

Do the math

18 year old kid - born 1992
MGB <span style="text-decoration: underline">1969</span>

made 23 years before he was born - that's ancient history, and, at least he knew it was a sports car with pedigree - didn't call it a Tuner. Give him credit

Kid I used to work with painted his Spitfire blue with the twin white stripes. Had kids all the time thinking it was a Cobra. He thought it was funny.

I had some slacker kids as what year Ferrari I had.....

problem is...I was driving a 73 Spitfire...

Here's the strangest one I have encountered. I posted this in the Triumph Forum a while ago:

Years ago, my old girlfriend and I had some people over. A girl said to me that I should look at the car a guest had driven.

"What is it?"

"One like yours."

I thought, "Wow, a TR3!"

I think that some folks have a different idea about the definition of "like".

It was a Checker Marathon.

My wife thought my '69 Super bee looked like my '68 SS Chevelle.

The flip side is it gets mistaken for a Fiat too.

A guy once thought it was a B, his dad had one,. I told him it was a Midget and he still didn't get it, he still thought it was a B. :wall:
