Now I will be the first to grant you that this isn't a big hurdle, but this is the farthest she has driven in 15+ years.

Another TR6, albeit not much of a looker, is officially back on the road.

I owe a big THANK YOU to everyone on this site for their help and support.

Tom, in the words of Chairman Mao, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
Congratulations, and have fun!

Re: She ran for more than 3 miles w/o dying. WooHo

Glad to hear the good news. How about a pic of the machine in action, or even sitting still, which might be a bit easier?

And remember all TR-6's are lookers and there is always one better than the best you've seen, so who can really be a critical judge? One TR-6 that is driven daily and pleases it's owner is just as valuable to him as a concours trailer queen is to another.

Picture attached - see, told you she wasn't a looker. <grin>

This is what 15 years of being in a back yard in Pomona CA looks like.

Driver door needs adjustment, not a frame issue (I hope).

Re: She ran for more than 3 miles w/o dying. WooHo

But she's a driver, and that's what counts!

Re: She ran for more than 3 miles w/o dying. WooHo

Thats not so bad! Besides, I think you can just buff it out! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Congrats! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Re: She ran for more than 3 miles w/o dying. WooHo

Get some Mother's polish and wax, then a little elbow grease... It'll look better than many do!

Enjoy! (I'm envious.)

Looks great! You'd be amazed what a little wax and polish will do.

Congratulations and keep driving ... your next trip should be six miles.

Re: She ran for more than 3 miles w/o dying. WooHo

Progress is the key; that feeling of bring a car back to life can't be beat. Also, if it looks that good to start with you will, no doubt, get that beauty to shine.

Re: She ran for more than 3 miles w/o dying. WooHo

Actually, that car looks to be in nice solid shape....and the door doesn't look that bad at all....Most TR6's I see have big door gaps...Just the way they are I guess....Glad to hear you got it back on the road...Nothing quite like that feeling.

Re: She ran for more than 3 miles w/o dying. WooHo

Great news. Remember Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Re: She ran for more than 3 miles w/o dying. WooHo

Tom, do you think that's GAP??? I've seen cars win peoples choice awards with bigger gaps than that. Minor, my friend, very minor. Concentrate on a buffer and good (Mother's??) cleaner & wax and you be pleasantly surprised at what your efforts will yield. Just don't go too fast...slow and easy is the key till you see how well the paint holds up, especially on the top surfaces.

Re: She ran for more than 3 miles w/o dying. WooHo

Awesome TD!! Good for you !!!
Go out and have a blast !!!!

I have often wondered what a TR6 looks like..
WITH ALL 4 wheels on the ground at once.
NOT up in the air on jack stands.
NOT with both hood and trunk open.
NOT with wires hanging out everywhere.
NOT dead in my garage.
NOT surrounded by empty boxes that
held replacement parts.
NOT being filled with endless piles of cash.

best wishes from
Tinster In PR.

Tinster:

All is possible except the last one.

"NOT being filled with endless piles of cash"

Sorry............

Re: She ran for more than 3 miles w/o dying. WooHo

Congradulations on gettin the car on the road. I gave up on my 15 year old barn find. I sold it and bought a running car. The furthest I ever drove my project car was rolling it down the driveway onto the transporter.

Well it looks like it may be saved. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif With regards to the finish. First wash it good with any car wash soap. 2] get a bottle of "3M Hand Glaze" from a auto paints store. do one panel at a time following the instructions.3] add carnuba paste type wax using a slightly damp cloth and buff with clean dry towels. More than one treatment may be required to get the best results from the finish, but use this three step procedure each time.Use Mothers Mag polish to brighten up the chrome.--Fwiw---Keoke-- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
