Shark run down Wildcat Canyon

Video of a drive I took yesterday on a great road out near the house I'm trying to buy. Couple of pucker moments but a fun run none the less. Anybody familiar with San Diego East county will know that Wildcat Canyon is a great drive (when traffic is light) lots of twisties, drops & rises.

Video is a bet deceptive in that it doesn’t give the proper feel of the speed involved.

Also ignore that little gear grinding going into second towards the start of the video.

All & all - a fun road. Can't wait to take it in the MG when she's back on the road.

very nice. The bus looked like it flew past you.

Great video!

Certainly can be frustrating to get behind someone who drives only with their brake-foot when going into the twisties!

:frown:

Thanks gents!

But yeah - the chuckle heads where out in force that day. The young man in the Ford Focus at least was trying to have a little fun so I didn't crowd him and only passed him on a strait away with the broken lines.

The old folks - well I knew there wasn't any more passing secions of that part of the road so I went in to cruse mode for the next couple of miles.

Now there is a follow up video that is of the return trip back up the canyon that I don't hit any traffic until right towards the end. But I can't up load it until I get home & have my high speed connection.

I'll let ya'll know when it's been posted.

Nothing worse than going down angelest crest and smelling burning brakes about a mile before you get to the knuckle head who's teriffied of the road with the brake lights always on going about 20 mph on a posted 45mph road.

In 2006 I got stuck behind a Honda Goldwing on the Tail of the Dragon (318 turns in 11 miles)on State Route 129 in Tennessee/North Carolina. He could have put his kickstand down and walked around some of those turns faster!

By the time I reached Deals Gap, I had quite a bit of brake fade with the MGC as I had to use the brakes too often to keep from COASTING over him! (And yes, I even lagged waaaaaaaaay back several time in hopes that he would eventually get up to speed. There were no opportunities to pass....and he would not utilize the shoulder rest areas.)

I drove Tail of the Dragon US-129 in the Miata (and 400 other Miatas) a couple of years ago. Great fun. I almost had a head on with a U-Haul truck that was way over in my lane on an outside curve for him. Fortunatley the Miata, like the MGB, is small and agile. The wife was not happy, though.
