I had to do a little break in maintenance on the BE today and fix a few things. While working on the engine I began to notice a rattling sound from the engine. As I investigated I though the sound was coming from the tach reduction gear so I took it off and checked it out.

I took it apart, everything looks new inside but I replaced the grease anyway. Put it back on and still had the sound so I pulled it again to check for the sound without the tach drive and tis still there. Its definitely coming from the generator. If its the rear bearing what are my options?

Thanks!

Replace the rear generator bushing. The ear on the tach drive causes the rear bushing to wear rather fast. I have only replaced rear bushings on tach drive gennys, the later ones always seem OK.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/iagree.gif and I most always agree with Frank so it was an easy call. Had the same prob one day in the early '70s in Iowa on my way cross country. Back then an old time electrical shop fixed me up with a total rebuild for 30 bucks. Will never forget that place.
