Service Interval Counter

Hello to all,

I have a question about the Service Interval Counter that's in-line with the speedo cable. Out of it are two wires, one white and one brown. The ends of those wires plug into to green wires, one with a white stripe on it and one that's solid green. Which wire goes to which? I realize that it's something that I could just leave unhooked, and I probably will. I'm just curious as to how to correctly hook it up should I desire to do so and also, what dash light it would trigger after how ever many miles have gone by? Can this thing be bypassed? If so, is a part available to connect both both cables, the one that goes in to it and the one that exits it?

All advice and input is welcome.

Thanks!
