send good vibes

A friend of mine is road tripping nearly 1,000 miles today to pick up a 1500. Send good vibes/karma...prayers? that it's a decent car! Go Steve go! I tried hard to get off work today to go with him but to no avail. I'm sitting outside at a coffee shop on my way into work, my Midget is sitting in front of me basking in the morning sun, what a way to travel! In Nov. in Michigan that's a rare treat.

Poor Steve, drove about 800 miles to see a total rusted wreck. Why do people do that? What good does it do to oversell something like that when eventually the truth will be out and the deal go south? I don't get it. Glad I didn't go. He's looking for any decent Midget, we're in west Michigan. He needs a cheap one but not a total project. Been pursuing Craigslist and ebay of course and are chasing the normal leads.

Here is a MK1 project in Indiana. I don't know anything about it, but it looks like it may have potential.

At any rate. Sounds fixable, but being that close, even if its too far gone, you should jump on it for parts.

Jeff;
You have a PM

That happened to my son.
He wanted an early Ford Bronco, found one in New Mexico (CRaig's List), communicated with the seller, photos, took his boss, car trailer, drove non-stop from Seattle to NM, and it was bent, rusted, doors didn't fit.......POC.

That one looks pretty good, several good things going for it.
It's sitting in a dry garage.
They have done work on it, and they have new parts and it has a recently installed top.
It needs a few things sorted and the poster can't spell so maybe you will get lucky!

sounds like it may have taken a hit to the front, hope it's not bent up
out the door, I've got a fever or 100.2 but first things first.

Just got back. Car was pretty good for the $1200. Only rust I could find were a few bubbles behind driver's rear. Very solid. Was repainted and color change from white to a Jade Green. Some paint defects, engine bay still white (but so dirty you can't tell). New top, good seats, good dash, good door panels, roll bar, front sway bar. Some sort of electronic ignition I didn't recognize. It needs a windshield and carpet. All in all, pretty decent. We dragged it home. Has to have a new starter (included) installed, battery recharged and brakes checked out before it can be started and tested so hopefully no rude surprises with engine/gearbox.

Well done.

I think (hope) you will be very happy!

I left the car at his house so no access. I'll probably be helping him get it roadworthy if he asks me. The ignition had a little black box on the fender wall with wires running into the dizzy, like an Allison or Crane but it was small. I don't know what years had that Opus thing.

That's the standard ignition that came with the car - 1500's had electronic ignition. The guts are the same as a chevette and someone around here knows the part number

Oh, okay, I guess I've forgotten all my 1500 info, I used to drive one I swear it.
