TR6 Seems I inspired my brother to buy TR6

Having seen my car, he ran out the door and bought his own. I think it's running OK, but some rust in the floor pan and not the prettiest engine compartment.
Regarding the latter, since the looks bothers him, I suggested he buys himself a new rocker cover and perhaps air filter, and it will suddenly appear a lot nicer.
Other suggestions?

I've seen much worst engine compartments!

With a little TLC that could be very presentable
Break out the wire brush & maybe a rattle can or two

Unless your going to remove your engine that is...

ppl cant see yur engine when yur cruisin'

My car was built strictly for driving
FAR from show quality but somewhat presentable

The valve cover, air box, servo, wiper motor and other things can be cleaned up, degreased, and painted.
Remove what he can, paint the others in place. The tops of the carbs polish up very well. Very satisfying project.

Anders, my engine bay didn't look much better than your brothers, and it still is not beautiful, but I did do a couple of cheap clean ups;
-wire wheeled and polished; carb tops, thermostat houseing, oil filler cap, hood latch, clutch master cylinder and cap.
-wire wheeled and painted silver valve cover and white metal of alternator.
-black spray paint top of rad reservoir and battery hold-down.
-new top rad hose.
-Armorall or similar on black vacuum hoses and cables.
I put the SS pancake style filter holders on some k&n filters for intake air, but the original air canister would look good cleaned and painted silver?
It's a start (till engine is out one day, then I'll remove black undercoating and paint body color). Hope something here helps.

My 2 cents.....don't do anything to the car before driving it for 3-6 months. Drive it, get to know it, sort out the functional things that need to be sorted out. It's presentable enough as it is. Have fun this summer, make a list for the winter, have something to do while the snow flies!

Good going! Trying to get my kid brother to move to SoCal and if he does I'm planning on "parking" one of the "spare" TR6's down there so we can do local events together etc...

Everything there can be addressed, and I bet he's going to insist on doing something right away. Really now, how can you not tinker with a new car? But the advice on driving her to figure out what needs to be sorted is a good one.
