General TR Secret to Horsepower

I have been thinking of switching to a lower weight, I may give it a try. I have quite a bit of Castrol and Valvoline 20w-50 stocked up though.

I've run 10W-40 since I've owned the car (13k miles). No issues and oil pressure runs 65-70psi at 2000 RPM.

The truth is all the modern oils are fine as long as you add the ZDP to protect the camshaft,
No sure I can wrap my brain around the O weight 15 stuff.......

I am running 20w50 year round in my TR6. Our ambient temp here runs well over 100° here every summer. I only plan to change oil ever 2 years or so because I do not drive it that much. I just got my Triumph 7 months ago. ...J.D.

This made me wonder if any of the Tr3/4 racers are blocking of the draft tube and using a pcv valve routed to valve cover or to atmosphere to reduce windage, and subsequently increase hp.
Tom

Racers normally remove the PCV system and go to a draft tube with a catch can to keep oil off the track.

Interesting. Is that because the vapors, blow by is more than the pcv system can handle?
I'm more familiar with v-twin mc motors where flywheels nearly fill the cases and getting the crankcase closer to vacuum, less air being pushed around, is a benefit.Maybe with the large crankcase this isn't a benefit.
Thanks
Tom
