second guessing myself-oil thrower question

gentlemen, sorry for so many questions. I assembled the timing chain cover, balancer, etc. yesterday and want to double check one thing. The oil thrower, I think that is what it is called, it is a concave/convex "washer" that I believe goes over the "key" in the crankshaft...........here is my question; does it go snug against the timing chain sprocket? and then the harmonic balancer "sandwiches" it so that it doesn't spin, etc.?, OR is there something missing between the TC sprocket and the balancer, OR do I have this all wrong. It seems that the notch in the thrower allows it to be installed while the "key" in the crank is in, however, it slides all the way over the key and then would spin freely, etc. The last think I want is to install the engine, start it, and have this thing spinning around...................I kept looking at my manuals, etc. and it seems that I have it correct. it just concerns me that the thrower is not connected in any way. Thanks in advance. Doug

It gets pinched between the sprocket and damper hub.
