I just got word that some local racer friends, Dave and Andrea Robertson, have formed their own ALMS team, and will be running a Panoz Esperante at Sebring, with Arie Luyendyk Jr. as their additional driver.
Not bad for a couple that started in Legends cars and Spec Racers at Waterford Hills.
If any one happens to be there, stop by and say "Hi".
They're good people.
Dave is a senior pilot for Spirit Airlines. Maybe I can wangle a ticket out of him! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I sent in my entry for the SVRA event. There's not much seat time: practice/qualifying on Wednesday, a one-hour enduro on Thursday evening and thirty-minute sprint on Friday morning but it is the place to be!

Attached is a shot from last year's sprint race taken shortly before I blew the engine.

Plus there's the escorted drive to downtown Sebring for all the entrants where they have a "mock tech" on the circle--the whole town turns out with music, food, etc. Really cool--see attached shot someone sent me.

Are they running the whole ALMS series? I'll be at the Utah race this summer, just got my tickets last week.

Drew, I think they are only doing Sebring, The Petit Le Mans, and one other event in their inaugural season. I don't know where the third slot is, but I'll find out.

By the time we got there (Sunday, noon) most of the "real" teams had packed up and left. One Panoz still there, silver one. I'll see if Herself has a photo.

Doc, it could have very well been Dave and Andrea. I understand they are doing extensive testing.
Drew, I guess their third venue this year is going to be at Belle Isle, in Detroit.

I wish them well; too bad they won't be giving it a go out here. The new track is really nice -- at least from a fan's perspective. Haven't been out on it as a driver.

This is all she got:

S'fine. Hardly images to worry over. 'smits will be honoured, certes.

I'm planning on making the race an annual event. Not too spendy for a full day, and who can argue with big league racing only 50 miles away (that's really close out here amongst the square states).

Almost moved out that way in the 70s, but didn't just because of that Drew!! Had to get my periodic fixes and they were too few and far between out there!!

Wasn't much out here before the Miller track went in last year. Las Vegas isn't too far away (7 hours or so) but this is much better. Good slate of events there this year, I'll make the ALMS race and maybe the AMA Superbike races as well.

Bummer. It appears that Andrea lunched the engine in the Panoz after 64 laps. Of course, it happened during the lapse in the Speed TV coverage.
Oh well, on to the next race for them, I guess.
