@#$%^ sebring valance

Hi. I bit the bullet and ordered the sebring valances from moss for a rotten old 75 just to lose 100 lbs of bumper. NOW I read all the poo-pooh people have gone through to fit them. Any first-hand stories? Jay

Mine took a ton of work...by someone else. I wanted it done right and I'm not talented in body/paint.

First, they're too wide for standard fenders since they are designed to mesh into flares. So they have to be cut and reprofiled.

Second, there is no top lip to accomodate vertical fasteners, so you have to attach through the face leaving messy fastner heads exposed. I had a lip put onto the top of mine for a clean finish. The top was wavy and not cut straight anyway.

Third, one of the air vents was crooked and had to be cut out and re-glassed.

Shoddy workmanship and horrible fit.

I got the rear valence from morespeed performance. Much, much, much better and nice design.

I just completed my installation on a 75. Parts from Moss.
Yes the front is too wide for standard fenders. I cut mine in the middle, fit it to the fenders on each side and then re glassed the center. I believe I took out about 1 1/2 in. The center vents are now closer together. I do not have a problem with the exposed fasteners but I did switch to SS bolts.
reworking the fenders to accept the park turn lamps is a bigger job. You will need a welder.

The rear fit better but still required a lot of trimming and fitting. You also need to weld the old style extensions below the tallight.

A lot of time and $$ but the cleaner look and lighter weight is worth it in my opinion

Thanx guys, The rear came this morning, got the little doogies welded in below the taillights, went to fit the valance....wrong angle for the doogies. Off they game, cut and ground the corners, cut for the exhaust and put a few sheet metal screws down thru the trunk(that shelf below the backup lights)to hold the valance on. Tomorrow I'll finish the rear with a bucket o' bondo and start on the lowering while I'm waiting for the front valance. Moss valances are off by 11/16 on one side and 7/16 on the other. I think I'll gain back the bumper weight in bondo. Next year I'll be scouting for minilites. There's a saab set on ebay right now for two hundred. They're the eighties replicas that will fit an mgb. Wife says no, that's enough money on a 500 dollar car for the moment. Thanx for your help.
